We have contact: marine industry reconvenes at Nor-Shipping

A container ship at sea to highlight Nor-Shipping 2022
Next-up in the international calendar is Nor-Shipping, which takes place from April 4 to April 7 in Lillestrøm, just outside Oslo, Norway. ABB Turbocharging will be there.

After two years of marine industry conferences and trade shows being cancelled or replaced with never-ending teleconferences, it feels great that real-life, face-to-face events are starting to take place again.

This week’s big event in the international calendar is Nor-Shipping, which takes place from April 4 to April 7 in Lillestrøm, just outside Oslo, Norway. As well as 21,000m2 of stands and exhibits, the conference boasts a packed program of talks, keynotes and round tables covering key industry issues.

As you might expect, the pathway to marine decarbonisation sits high on the agenda, with the event billing itself as: “the platform for sustainable ocean development, helping leading maritime players plot profitable courses into the future”. ABB’s Hub Manager Turbocharging Northern Europe & Russia, Timo Selonen explains: “Decarbonization is one of the future key challenges for the whole industry. Nor-Shipping offers a great opportunity to see how to overcome these challenges, together!”

Norway has been an international leader in the development of carbon-neutral and carbon-free shipping initiatives, particularly through its Green Shipping Programme, established to realize the country’s ambition to operate the most eco-friendly fleet in the world. As Timo says, “Norway is one of the top shipping nations in the world with centuries of tradition dating back to the Viking era. This heritage continues to move forward with modern technological innovations that lead the way for the entire global industry.”

Nor-Shipping also attracts exhibitors and visitors from around the world. ABB Turbocharging will be present on the ABB stand, ready to show guests our latest innovations, such as the brand new extensions to Tekomar XPERT, which now boasts modules to support automated emissions measurement and reporting, and hull and propellor performance, alongside engine performance.

Timo will be greeting visitors on the stand and — in his own words — is “enormously excited to meet everyone face to face after this long period of isolation” – expect an especially warm welcome!
