2020 has been a tough year for most of us, but with the holiday season approaching, it’s time to consider relaxing, appreciating the good things we have, and looking forward to a successful 2021.

Along with the challenges, the past 12 months have been incredibly busy for ABB Turbocharging. We celebrated 40 years of ABB Turbocharging in Singapore – one of the world’s most important transportation hubs, for starters, and we also saw ABB Power2 two-stage turbocharging technology celebrate its 10th year of commercial availability.

It was a great year for sharing knowledge, too, with ABB Industry Expert Day seeing the marine industry’s leading experts joining us for an ABB Webinar, answering the biggest questions facing the marine industry over the coming years and decades. That wasn’t the only webinar ABB Turbocharging hosted either, with experts also joining us for our Future Fuels Webinar. As part of the innovative virtual media event, our panel of experts discussed why we need to look towards hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels, such as ammonia, in the not-too-distant future, along with the challenges the shipping industry faces in adopting such fuels.

We’ve also seen some great successes for our customers over the past year. The TT-Line Company was just one of the organizations to benefit from a relationship with ABB Turbocharging, turning to us for their servicing and maintenance needs to keep the Spirit of Tasmania fleet running reliably and on time when crossing Australia’s Bass Strait.

Gujarat Flurochemicals was another company that overcame technical issues with a little help from ABB Turbocharging, opting for an engine upgrade package that helps the company to run reliably without downtime, while also reducing maintenance costs.

Meanwhile, Singapore-based Berge Bulk signed a Turbo LifeCycleCare agreement to cover the turbochargers on 11 of its newest vessels, helping cargo to arrive on time, in a reliable and safe way. It wasn’t just the marine industry that benefitted from ABB Turbocharging’s expertise, either, with Bangladesh-based Paramount Textiles improving reliability and cutting costs in their production facility through turbocharger upgrades.

We’re grateful to have played a part in these success stories and more, and we’re looking forward to an even brighter year in 2021. We’ve already got a packed publishing schedule for the year ahead, bringing you some of the most interesting customer service stories, industry news and features, along with technical articles from the world of ABB Turbocharging.

In the meantime, from all of us here at charge!, we hope you, your families and your colleagues stay safe and enjoy the festive season. See you again in 2021.
